I’ve said it in a million interviews already. The songs don’t belong to me. They are bigger than I’ll ever be and they will certainly live a lot longer than I will. That’s why this album is less about me and more life in general. It’s an album about awesome times, celebrated by real people, sexy people, and waking up to smell their sweet sweat still lingering in the air.
Someone once passed me a stack of books and said enjoy. And when you are done, pass them on for they do not belong to you. They belong to the world. And that is what I am doing with these songs. They are of the world and for the world.
Even the personal songs about my family and factual love stories, I will not take credit for writing them. It is my duty to simply sit and listen to a frequency that anyone can hear; A station perhaps from space, commercial free, broadcast in the clouds. I don’t ask. I sing-a-long to that station nonetheless, and happen to record the phrases and melodies from time to time, and still they are not my own. Maybe I am a receiver, but just an instrument in that sense. My body is just hardware. Some other wonderful force is playing the song.
Whatever “being” is to the human. Whatever air is to the bird, or what water is to the fish. Whatever force decides to make our hearts beat and food digest. That mad divine scientist is who is responsible for these songs. They are a gift for all of us.
And so I am grateful and so I project and we share the sweetness.
I’m glad you are listening too. Enjoy the new album.

loving it.
thank you.
sounds good.
keep the channel open. for all y'all, one of my favorite quotes:
"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. If you block it, it will never exist through any other medium. It will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable it is, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the Channel open. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive."
- Martha Graham to Agnes De Mille
i've cried to your songs, i've sang them, i've flown them across the ocean and back, i've made love to them, i've shared them, i've danced to them, i've slept to them, gotten thru some hard times with them, and loved every one of them. Its an amazing gift you're giving to the world. And i thank you.
It's awesome, man. Thank you. Honestly, thank you.
Songs, what songs? LOL! Oh you mean the melodic moments of harmony that have been tickling my ears for several days now? Well on that note, well done.
I love your music. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective.
your best work to date.
thank you for sharing and thank you for being so kind.
two words: fucking superb. i don't know how else to describe what i feel while listening to this this that you have given us. in my mind's eye i see you opening yourself up and these golden, shining moments rush out and surround every and all.
thank you.
I have had the best day today... and there was nothing very special about it except this big old box in the mail and a great perspective of the world. I want to thank you a hundred times for all you've shown to me through your voice, writing, and actions. I don't know where or who I would be if you hadn't worked your way to my ears and my heart.
If you'll excuse me- I have to go take the rest of this day and make it mine. : P <333
I love you! And the album is kick ass! Thank you for sharing it with the world. You're right. These songs will become more powerful than you could ever imagine.
Absolutely love the new songs.
I love love love it.
What a wonderful surprise it was after coming home from a long day at work to see that it had arrived today
=)
Thank you
you are amazing,
your music is amazing,
and you should come back to San Francisco, when you have the chance.
Cafe Gratitude? THANK YOU!
Muah! Best songs yet. I love it. Bought it first thing this morning!!!
Oh, and come to eastern CT!
Please, pretty, pretty boy please.
aaaahhhhhhh!!!!! i just downloaded the cd...i got to hear a lot of it today at work though. my boss, who's also crazy about you, downloaded it on her iphone this morning and blasted it from her office most of the day. dynamo of volition is my new favorite song....it makes me feel like i need rollerskates and a disco ball. ah, i didn't think it was possible to adore you any more than i already did....wow!
and thanks for the permission to spread the music. since i discovered your yummy goodness years ago i've taken it upon myself to spread the gospel of mraz and sometimes that means a burned cd or two. i figure it results in larger record sales next time after they're hooked. and you know it always works.
love~
Very much enjoying, thanks! Maybe with the words I have written (and shared with a few) -- the review of your first song from this album -- more people will be inclined to feel the love from your melody. When you travel be safe and light.
~ Jenn
these amazing songs have not stopped playing in my car and in my ipods. thank you, thank you. thank you for being you!
Wonderboy, bravo.
HEY! good songs. Thank all the lovely people on youtube that posted footage from your concerts. They exposed me to the music and therfore why I bought the album.
Grazie! :-)
I bought 2 copies...one for myself and another for someone who happens to be there to receive it when the opportunity presents itself...that lucky, awesome someone! Thank you for being one of the most beautiful instruments I've heard!
I'm listening the new CD right now and I love it :) Thanks for being you.
Thank you for spreading your germs around the world. Ahchooo! I think I already caught the flu, I'll pass it along to mes amis ;)
How wonderful your new CD really is, quintessential alien fresh. Thank you. From the core of my being, thank you.
Absolutely sensational. This album is going on repeat for the next month! Thanks Jason.
What a fantastic attitude, Jason! The new music is great, it will certainly find multiple uses!
thank you for your openness to an experience with every possibility of turning sour. with this rhythmly sugar sprinkled over it, it'll rise ahead of my mundane intentions
...and once again give me the best seat in the house.
In the words of Michael Bolton pumpin thru my speakers:
And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
And when I’m feelin’ blue
The guitars comin’ thru to soothe me
Thanks for the joy that you’ve given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
The rhythm, rhyme and harmony
You helped me along, you’re makin’ me strong
Give me the beat, boy(s), and free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
see ya later skater!
The positive thoughts that you share helps me look on the bright side and really helps me accept realities of life. The coyotes song made me sing in the quiet french subway early this morning, then I got embarassed, then I sang again. haha
Thank you
You are amazing, and I love you.
I love the idea of music travelling like that. My friends call me the music freak because I'm always pointing out new songs and artists to them.
By the way, have you heard of bookcrossing? (just put .com after it and you get the website). They have lot of places where you can leave books you've read and pick up new ones, and each book has a bar code so you can track its travels.
Is your album out in the Netherlands too? I have to check that...
j-man, one thing that amazes me about you is that you have a phenomenal memory. thanks for understanding the message of those books when i gave them to you all that time ago.
i totally agree with you about music belonging to everyone, and i think it is truly admirable that an artist is so generous to admit it and practice it.
shanti, dharma, ahimsa, prema!
xo
enjoying it, and sharing it with my neighboors. and using it as lullabies, and making my phone ring with it, and it's in my ears when i go for a walk. it's everywhere. and i love all the new stuff. it all flows together so nicely.
thanks for it all.
The cd is simply amazing...but you knew that already, didn't you.
whoo haaaaaaa! the album rocks. best yet. fo' sheeezy.
every aspect of my life has been touched by your music and i will never ever be the same. damn..what a great you've given so many people. i definitely take you with me and i'm lucky to be tuned into your staion. i feel ya
Fallen silly deeply in love,
with yours songs i have immersed
Thank you for sharing its purpose,
the life now sounds much more joyous.
Love Love Love!
I haven't picked this up yet and I'm torn! Should I buy a physical CD or spring for the iTunes album with the bonus tracks? It's twice the price! Right now I'm thinking it's going to be worth it...
thank you for a most invaluable gift. i love having you stuck in my head.
The new album is amazing! I was listening to it while walking to work and almost didnt go in. But im not one for getting in trouble. Once the work day was over, my dog and I laid on the floor and listened. He agrees that its some of your best.
i think you are so dang amazing and cool. thanks. =) it's good to share you with the world.
Maybe I am a receiver, but just an instrument in that sense. My body is just hardware.
Are you trying to say you're a tool?
:D haha
You get an A for AWESOME on this CD. Coyotes is my favorite because it has multiple interpretations - a song of unrequited lust, or from the opposite viewpoint, a song about celebrity, hunted by the populace. Just to name two. Only Human - Wow. Fantastic musical leaps and bounds. I can't sit still, even in the car, when listening to the danceable tunes, and the softer ones lead me into sweet dreams at night. Can't wait to receive the hard copies in the mail. I hear there's a video that should be entertaining.
What am I grateful for?
YOU, and everyone that helps you bring that frequency to the rest of us. Thank you. Seriously.
First, thoroughly loving the new album. I cleaned my entire apartment to it yesterday, it gave me some great motivational energy.
Second, this quote here: "Someone once passed me a stack of books and said enjoy. And when you are done, pass them on for they do not belong to you. They belong to the world." reminded me of a website you might enjoy. It's called BookCrossing and the idea is to put a label in the book with a number you've obtained from the website, then you leave the book somewhere - a park bench, a subway station - and then hopefully whoever picks it up will read the label, go to the website, and indicate that they found your book, then you can see where it has traveled. With all your travels, I'm sure you'd find lots of great places to release books "into the wild" as they say on the site. You can either buy their pre-made labels or print them out using those standard Avery labels you can get at any office store. They also sell other supplies such as waterproof bags to keep the book safe and dry if you're going to leave it outside somewhere.
it's great, thanks. :)
I think my ears had an orgasm.
congratulations and thankyous and felicitations on your creation.
it's beautiful.
this is your year.
Jason Mraz,
I am absolutely positively completely in love with your album.
I bought the new greatness that is We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. on my lunch break yesterday. And then I took an extra hour so I could listen to the whole thing.
I'm happy to report I still have my job.
This CD makes me HAPPY. I haven't been HAPPY with all caps in a long time. Consider my socks rocked.
Much Love.
i have a convertible, and both yesterday and today, i put the top down, blasted the new cd as loudly as possible, and sang and danced as much as i could while still wearing a seatbelt. :) i wanted as many people on the road to be exposed to your music as possible. i can not stop listening to butterfly in particular...i saw that you said it was your favorite song on the album and i understand why. its beat is AMAZING and utterly infectious, just like everything about you.
thank you so much for enriching my life and so many other people's lives in more ways than you'll ever know!
it was mine at midnight on monday/tuesday and since then i have done all of the above with your songs.
i shared with the ONE girl at work who insists on playing her music out loud. now the office is ringing with your amazing voice. and i couldn't be happier.
honeyspy....it's worth it. just download the whole thing now if you haven't already done it or if you already have the ep's. they're different recordings and we all know that with jason mraz, a different recording of the same song is really a whole new song.
did that make sense? who cares, just do it. :)
lovelovelove
Amazing. Utterly Amazing.
Overwhelmingly emotionally awesome.
I'm glad there are no antibiotic's to your music. :-)
i did cook to them tuesday night! pretty tasty.
Music is a tool
Love is the melody
The melody to love
The melody to dance
The melody to whistle
The melody to live
The melody to universe
The melody to connect
The melody to share
I just saw you perform in Stockholm and I wanted to thank you for what you do.
It was amazing.
your music has made me the happiest ive even been.
it has made me optimistic and hopeful.
this week alone my godmother has been diagnosed with breast cancer and ive had to deal with a lot of other stuff.
but listening to all three albums, just puts a smile on my face.
keep on making music that you love.
because everyone will love it too.
thanks :]
Thank you for your openness, for sharing this music with everyone. The new CD is simply off the hook. Love for a Child and Details in the Fabric are especially heart-wrenchingly beautiful.
Your voice makes me feel more positive every day, regardless of the mood of the song.
There can always be more positivity in the world - thank you!! :)
Did you write the song "Lucky" for your girlfriend? It's an absolutley beautiful song....she should be proud.
this album makes me very, very happy and it also keeps looping itself in my head.
thank you so much for sharing it with us. we really appreciate it.
keep that signal going!
Wow, amazing lyric that really touched me:
If it's a broken part, replace it
If it's a broken arm then brace it
If it's a broken heart then face it
It got me, I've been trying to fight the fact that I'm not over a super serious relationship that ended years ago. These simple/awesome/perfect words helped me realize it's alright, but it's time.
Once again, Mraz saves the day. You're the coolest, man.
Thank you. Honestly, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm loving every second of your songs, and nothing turns a bad day good like putting on my headphones and turning on your music. At school, when about to sleep, on the bus, chilling with friends. Your songs fit all. And I love it for that, and I thank you for that. You're the best.
I am all mrazy over and over again.(dreamy smile)
i love everything on the new album. while i can't say i've made love to any of the songs (yet) this bright and beautiful weather Illinois has been having the last few days has given me the joy of blasting the songs with the windows down, my sunglasses on without a care in the world. music is my life.. i live, breathe, eat, sleep, and dream it. and you, truly, have added to that. have fun on the tour!!
peace & love
When an album starts with the lyric, "Wake up everyone" it is obvious it is not only the artists masterpiece (to date) but a relevant work the world should pay attention to, it's refreshing to to see we are...thank you in so many ways...nameste!
Thanks Love =)
I just keep playing it and turning more people on to you and your music. I was so happy to see the album in this weeks People magazine!! I am selfishly wishing you GREAT success on this album so we (your fans) get to hear many, many more.
See you in Detroit!
Hi Jason,
They are fantastic songs, indeed. I love “I´m yours” (me and the world I guess:)). “Live high” the way it is on your Myspace (with the chorus) is fantastic, even though I can´t get the lyrics very well on that paragraph that starts on “try to picture the man” and the following paragraph that ends on “practicing their living for you”. I can understand the words, but I can´t get the meaning I guess. It´s a bit messy for me. Anyway, another great one is “After an afternoon” (I know this one is not in the new album, but it´s so tender that I consider it worth mentioning). And that one with Colbie Caillat: “Lucky”. What a wonderful song! I absolutely love the melody, the lyrics, everything! It´s very beautiful!:)
One of your “old” tunes that I listen a lot is “0% interest”. I always try singing along with the song, but it works as a tongue-twister for me. Someday I hope It´ll sound like a song in my voice.:)
About the “sweet sweat lingering in the air”, man...I really didn´t picture it as a very pleasant situation. lol:D
You are a fantastic singer and a very sweet person.
:):*
Pri.
Jason-
New disc is crazy good! I am a young mom with 2 little boys 6 and 1 and they are groovin to it too!
Can't wait to see you in Cincy!
I adore your new album. As always, you show the world just how talented you are. I reviewed the album on my blog- a rave review naturally. Check it out- http://completelyofftherecord.blogspot.com/
BEST POST EVER.
"Nothing of me is original". True.
I just want you to know that "Details in the Fabric" is the song that gave me a total wake-up call about my recent dwelling over a bout of a heartbreak. Gotta move on. Now.
I learned to play it today on guitar and then looked up the entire song's lyrics. So much better after seeing it all there on the screen and not just hearing it.
Thank you for helping me out with your words of wisdom. Everything will be fine. Thank you Jason.
the songs are gorgeously done.
thank you. :)
I like the pic with 'rest area'. Awesome idea! Is that a tattoo?
The album is good, too, of course.
in.m.mazur@gmail.comJason, music has always spoken to me. The lyrics. The melodies. The sound.
In the past it was a song here or a song there. A piece of a song, a line. Nothing comprehensive.
With this new album, I am tounched ny every sang on the album. The ENTIRE album speaks to me at a level that none have ever done before.
Thank you for openning yourself up and sharing it with us. Please know that your are never alone. Others are always going thru the same things with you.
Thank you again for all of your incredible music.
You do a show in Central FL and promise you I will be there.
J,
Thankyou for the new soundtrack to my life!!
it's lovely.
Millie
i LOVE the new album! Well done ;)
I actually swim to them.
I have a waterproof iPod case and headphones to go with it. I swim laps in my pool to the cadence of "Only Human", and speed up when "Dynamo of Voalition" plays.
My challenge to myself is to be able to swim the butterfly stroke for the entire length of the song "Butterfly"-- which is no small feat, considering the song's length.
Let's just be thankful that my pool does not resemble an ocean of diarrhea. . .
The fact that you don't let fame go to your head makes the music infinitely more meaningful.
I can feel that self actualization hitting my ears and shaking my frame every time I listen. It's a powerful indescribable feeling that just couldn't be there otherwise. Music like that changes lives, including mine.
You could have stopped with "shine the light on all of your friends," but you continue to share the extra-dimensional goodness.
Thanks Jason.
I'm sharing the music.
I'm spreading the music.
Everyone's loving the music.
IM SO HAPPY THAT MY EARDRUMS ARE EXPLODING.
Thanks Mraz for this posting. It has changed my p.o.v abt my life, my dreams and what really inspires me. Even not entirely, but to a some extent, it makes me think again. =)
Thanks!
^^Thanks!!

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

The first time I ever heard your music, was about 4-5 years ago and I was surfing in Tofino, BC and resting my tired bones from being rocked by the waves....
The first song I ever heard and still rings to be my favorite was a coffee shop version of Halfway Home.
Saw you perform once in an intimate setting at Brockton Bowl in Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC
I've been addicted to your music since. Hoping you'll stick to smaller venues, (although not possible I'm sure)
Now I've discovered your Blog, thanks to the girl who updates your Twitter. :)
Keep being awesome and putting great energy back into the world...
Cheers
Forever listening....
-Being Samiantha

watched you in Toronto. you were awesome!
i keep telling everyone i know to buy this album in particular. but i love them all.
may you keep making magic!
