Maybe we should stop trying to save the world. After all, the world I grew up in is soiled with bigotry and homophobia, war upon war, pollution, hunger and poverty. Who wants to save that? Some people do. Some people fear change. And they will fight others and pollute the earth in order to not have to change, to cling to what they’re used to.
What if instead of saving the world – we say we are creating a new one? Last years rally for change in the Obama campaign was a preview of what we’re capable of. By simply trying on new ideas and being okay with letting go of old routines, we can cause an amazing shift on this planet.
So what’s the goal? What and where are we shifting to?
What else? What does everybody want?
To be loved – to feel safe – to be inspired and inspiring during our stay here on Earth.
I think this kind of co-existing is a simple place to get to. If everybody’s mama hugged him or her when they were young, this world might be a big musical breaking out in song more often. But that ain’t always the case. So let’s start hugging some folks and give love and hope to those that need it.
What should you let go of?
You’ll figure that out for yourself. We all cling to the most random of objects or ideals that keep us from gaining strength or making progress. Remember, to make room for that new Ferrari, you gotta clean out your garage first. And I’m not suggesting taking it all to the dump. Give generously and give responsibly. Re-use and Recycle. Donate to those less fortunate.
Take a quick second and read “The Humanifesto” written by the superstars over at SuperForest.Org.
They’ve written an inspiring mission statement about how to best service our world. It is the philosophy that guides their every post.
Its two main components are:
1.) Environmentalism is all about manners.
2.) When you think of “the Environment,” think of the room you’re in right now.

In other news:
The home solar project continues and my yard transforms into a wicked sci-fi rural landscape. Now, in addition to harvesting avocados and Bushwalla’s famous tomatoes, we’re harvesting energy. We’re lucky to have sunlight year round, though the system still collects on grey days. My little hacienda has been getting baked out here since 1977. I feel blessed to be contributing to its longevity while making a difference for my loving neighbors.
What’s going on in your environment?
Who are you being kind to today?

magnificent.
Some really good thoughts.
'Remember, to make room for that new Ferrari, you gotta clean out your garage first.'
"拯救地球!" means "Save the earth!"
(it's really hot in Taiwan now)
Too much CO2.
Nice pics.
I love reading your posts and can´t wait for the next. Today I visited your blog 5 times. I know, I´m crazy. Just like u :-)
Know what? You should write a book with your thoughts. It would be a best-seller.
At least we would buy it :-)
Jason,
Ive wondered a lot about the idea of saving the world. It seems like an incredible amount of pressure, same with changing the world I'd say. Mother teresa said "do small things with great love". I think if we start with this mentality we can have a much greater impact on the world then thinking that today in 2009, Jason Mraz has to be the savior of the world. I also think that if we start with small tasks that bring us limitless joy while improving the world, I think this is how we build incredible movements that have a significant impact on the world. If we look at President Obama, he wasnt a US senator 5 years ago, he was an unknown to America or the world. Not until a speech at the DNC, did he arrive at the national scene and even then he wasnt guaranteed to win the 2004 election to become a senator, and no one was thinking of him becoming a presidential candidate! The point is that, his campaign was such a long shot, but through hard work, he has toppled the odds and accomplished greatness.
I just think focusing on saving the world, makes our movements or ideas seem so small, when instead if we can focus on building something special no matter how big or small and give it the potential to grow, then we can true alter the course of humanity.
very nice blog. :)
Also, I want to wish you the happiest of birthdays. I know it's coming up next week, so I just wanted to say happy birthday! I hope you have a beautiful one!
It was fun watching the behind the scenes video...what a precious kitty. :)
Hope your day is spectacular. It's a lovely rainy day here...it's nice to hear the rain.
XOXOXO
oh yeah...and thanks for the pictures. A blog with pictures always makes me smile.
I find that since discovering your blog, Jason, that I look forward to it with great anticipation! You never let me down. I feel like I am on the road to being a better person just by knowing your music and reading what you have to say. My journey has taken me into animal rescue work...which is very reqarding for me personally not to mention the dogs we save from certain death. In the last two months I have quit smoking and I have lost 26 pounds (and counting). Thank you for sharing your journey with us and know that you are affecting those around you and making me think what I can do to make a change...even someone as far away as Alabama.
Nice. I was getting all bummed out reading about the inevitability of automatic stereotype activation, but then your post reminded me of an old episode of "MASH." The Father Mulcahy character says in a sermon to his weary comrades that it is our job to bring heaven on earth. So true.
I will try my best to be kind to everyone I come across today. Even the A holes...lol
I love how you use your blog as an outlet to express messages of change and gratitude and to plug people who are about the same and whose messages will help others.
A lot of food for thought and conversation starters are garnered through your blog. Thanks.
Obama is the preview? I'm fairly certain he fucking blew it by using the gay community as a pawn in his election campaign.
Your words linger far longer than the time it takes to read them...
So I'm gonna go let them marinate.
Thanks for the post. Looking forward to next.
those solar panels are pretty damn awesome...
here's a hug for start...to everyone
hugs.
Aw, excellent perspective on the save the earth mantra. I totally agree the idea of creating anew is the mindset that will move us toward actually doing so.
ironically a friend just texted me this amazing quote:
"a dream you dream alone is only a dream. a dream you dream together is reality."
thank you for always sharing your inspiring thoughts and dreams. together we can make it real. :)
Thank you, again, for promoting such simplistically beautiful ideas. I hope it catches on like wildfire -- and I hope that it's as life-changing as wildfire, but for the better.
great thoughts.
I was feeling bummed today but reading this makes me want to do better tomorrow. :)
I will be kind-er to my love today, and give my kids a few extra hugs...even if they don't want them!
Thanks for the SF mention Jason. Awesome!
you have a lot of nice idea.
Nice blog :)*
thanks for promoting this!, Green Jason
Jakarta's environment is almost helpless, but thank God there are people who cares about it.
I just hugged my sis. Does that count?
Well, Green loco!
Seems there are many several ways to save the world. say bye-bye to Superman and that freak-crawling-so called superhero-on red and blue tight suit aka Spiderman. say hello to Mraz-man :-D
Get out. 2 days ago in the shower I had this massive brainstorm for a plan of coming together. Much too long to write about right now, but soon the world will see it, and I shall link you then. I had been trying to develop ideas for a charity component of Red Banana Media (which will be relaunching soon, so if anyone travels there and it is a hot mess, ignore it!) and this fell right into place.
My point: We are telepathic twins. Every time something is going on in my head and i find myself stumbling over to your blog, you have magically posted words expressing near identical thoughts. This case is no different. Know what I did after that brainstorming session? Battled through naming it. I registered "createanewworld.org" this morning. Create A New World...for a campaign for change. Then a few hours later, I came here. Yes.
I can't tell you how refreshing it is to feel connected to someone so far away in time and space. It still gives me that chilling sense of cosmic unity.
Hopefully some day our paths will cross for a more prolonged period. Great things will come of it.
cheers,
Lindsay x
thanks jason. not only did your latest post save me (again) from absolute boredom frm slogging for the exams, it also incited me to think more about what im doing for myself and for others :)
I love everything you just said in that post. I always try my best to help out the world, with a big focus being on the environment, but there is more I know I can do. It's ordinary people that will change the world to something better, something we can all be proud of one day. Every small step counts and factors into the big picture of change.
Inspired to go hug random people...going to take a break later on in the day and will go out to hug people. It's on u mraz...it might just be a great idea in theory. If i get mugged or harassed I am so not doing it again...hahaha...how many people have you hugged today?
You are an inspiration. You motivate me to smile more, and lend a helping hand. Last night an old man was getting off the bus and he had troubles because of the gap between the bus and the sidewalk. The bus driver did nothing, so I simply held out my hand to help him and he looked shocked for a second. He took my hand and when he got off he gave me a hug and thanked me.
Something so simple like lending a hand can really make a difference in someones day. So thank you for your simplicity.
There are days when I feel alone in how I feel about life and living, and then I read your blog and it all sort of starts to make sense. So thank your for your words.
Live High Live Mighty Live Rightiously...and celebrate the malleable reality...
We all can be the best we have to give, be, and do. It's a mind shift to always strive for the best in our world.
I have learned to take in those younger than me with warm hugs, an open heart, and compassion. I take my godaughter under my wing, as she is a young mom as I once was. Makes my day every hug I recieve back from her. i feel so blessed just to be a part of her world that I'm alredy rewarded for what ever help I give her. Her son is a blessing to. :)
One night, I dreamed that from space, I found the earth had no longer continents. It meant the earth lost its green and human beings disappeared.
If it happened, it would be unfair to any other creatures still wanting to exist.
Don't let it happen. Must save the earth.
I love my cats, don't want any other people to harm them. I love environment, hate any people who destroy it.
However, sometime, I feel powerless to save my cats and anything else.... The only thing I can do is saying sorry....shitty me.
:) It is just "sometime", you know. I can't stand myself if I always act like that. So I kiss, hug, take care of my cats when they still beside me. Also, I try to keep my classroom clean, put rubbish into bin,.. just little things but I feel happy whenever do it.
Saving the earth, it makes me become better person. I will do it as long as I can and you or any other people still do.
In my country, it is 1:27am, I must sleep now. :P
Good bye,
Love you.
Trang.
definitely needed this right now... :)
Jason your thoughts are always an inspiration. It's amazing the way that last year's presidential campaign brought together not only Obama supporters, or McCain supporters, but people who supported all kinds of things, all around the world. The waves of the power that created are still echoing. I dislike that they call it the Obama effect, simply because it was not only Obama to cause this, but the empowerment we all felt with the last election to get out, make our voices heard, and make a difference in the world we live in. It's incredible to see what apathy can do, and the reverse of that as well. As you so often reflect in your thoughts, every action has a reaction, so why not smile, spread the love, extend a hand, and pass on some good karma to the world around us? Thanks for provoking meaningful thought in my life daily :) Blessings!
Again you continue to inspire the world. Thanks for another amazing blog! I check everyday to see if u posted a blog and I get so excited to see you post a new one because I know that blog is going to be even more amazing than the last. I also appreciate the pictures you put up!:)
you are by far the most brilliant/fascinating person I have ever came across. I would love to just chat with you or listen to you talk and talk because everything you say always has so much meaning, you outdo yourself each and every time. Bravo!
Little by little, we're all saving the world by reading your blog...
I'm sure everyone that comes in here take some time to share your magnificent thoughts with at least five other people.
Well, i do.
So I thank you for that.
Oh, and yaaaay, you finally shaved!! :)
Very insightful Jason! I love reading your blog!
unless the dreamer is the me? i'll attempt to listin to my voice, you know the one that tells me to taste past the tip of my toungue...hahaha i was honestly listining to that song when i read you blog and i was likeeeeeeee um SIGN! def. be spreading the love for mrs. earth thanks 2 u
<3
I think we should change the world, yes, but I think our focus should also be on the now, like the people dying in Tehran because all they want is change. They deserve our prayers.

Wear Green for them.
I think it would be cool if you got some awareness to this issue.
There are many more very interesting articles and photos of whats going on there, if you want any.
peace & love-
danae
yes...all the things you say damage the the Earth..polution, war after war...why did you not mention this in Pentagon Chanel?
You do great work...you inspire people...
Where are the thoughts of the good people?
The sensitivity, the reason the emotion of life?
The news of the month was about sending American fighter jets to Japan
with the objective of strengthening the security of the Western Pacific.
The concern of the countries with the nuclear threat coming from North Korea led Americans, Japanese, Russian and more to respond to these serious North Korean actions.
The human stupidity, the stupidity of all nations.
And we, as we?
And the fear of losing everything, the world crazy and earth quake?
Dear caring sapling,
I dearly hope that you can always sleep well, particularly this night.
I wish you a lovely evening tomorrow at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.
You fairly deserve the Hal David Starlight Award. Nice going !
...how can you sleep at a time like this?
You pose this question to me every morning. Often multiple times in 5 minute intervals. I have to be honest, though, Jason: it's easy. I'm pregnant and flat-out exhausted. That's how. ;)
oh dear...
I wanna read this calmly... right now I'm correcting written tests:p tomorrow I get up really early to take my students to a geology/paleontology field trip... tomorrow night... your blog and me -> it's a date;))
big hug & sweet kiss*
You sound like my mom when she would get angry at my sisters and I for cutting up, "We don't have to go Disneyworld you know, we could just stay here and you can sit in your rooms!" and then we'd whine and plead, "NO! We want to go to Disneyworld SO BAD! PLEASE!?"
Yes, the first part sounded something like that
We're not saving the Earth, but many people are trying to save it. Maybe the Earth is saving us and, maybe, it's beginning to think that we don't deserve to be saved anymore.
Just a thought. I enjoy your optimism and your general messages geared toward creating a new world, a new life. We each start with ourselves and our rooms -- small steps toward something much bigger than us. Nice.
youre my idol
The video was so much fun!
My glasses are almost always that crooked on my face. Or maybe it's my face that's crooked...
Don't you hate it when people don't answer your questions?
Nothing, nobody. No human contact today. Although I did send a colleague who is retiring a "thank you and may the force be with you" message. I told him that it was a privilege to have earned the right to do whatever the hell he wants, whenever he wants, although I didn't say it quite like that.
About the rest of it, too much to say. Doing is better.
PS--Don't let muppet Jason and Bushwalla (and sundry critters) get near Triumph the comic insult dog. I shudder to think what might happen.
A goal is but a dream unless you work at it every day.
I couldn't agree more that manners are the way to transport us to a better world - every day in every little way.
Thank you!
May I?
and
If you please.
Words to make our lives brighter and kinder.
Thank you...for helping me keep a smile in my heart every day.
May I?...wish you peace and patience as you head out on the road.
If you please...take a look at my blog to see my completed goal, five years in the hauling. My birds are happy for their new little biosphere!
I'll tell you what, I've changed a hell of a lot since I realized I was a fan of yours and found your blog (I've actually been a fan since 2004, but I didn't know it-long story). I think it's mostly thanks to you. No longer do I view my 23rd move as a hassle, but rather an adventure. I don't even know where I'll be living, and it's exciting! :D
As for your questions, my environment is hot and sticky (June in Texas with no AC), and I've been kind to my siblings (and myself) by baking cookies. Want one?
Today I begin with being kind to myself, after all if I can't be kind to myself then how can I be kind to anyone else? And then I carry on that joy to anyone and everyone who will share in it with me. Today is special - its my 8943th birthday. I celebrate with gratitude and love for mother nature, my only real 'home'. I feed my happiness by being inspired by people such as yourself and attempting to inspire those around me. Today I choose to be happy, I hope you are too. x
Hey J my Wake-Up call,
Here's a *big hug* for you :) for all that you share with us.
I second Lindsay; I think we're telepathic too.
Definitely cleaning out my garage to make room for that Ferrari. Now embarking on small steps towards a sensible, frugal living.
Come back to Malaysia soon.
Love from a Tuesday's Child,
Audrey
I am loving this new routine of mine.. Waking up to your new blog post.
Totally agree to the 3 points you made about what people want and need. It's so simple, yet so complicated.. hmm
Most of the times I always try to be kind to people, it's much harder to be kinds than to be hateful for me. I am trying my best though. I haven't had the best temper in the world, so your blog is like my guidebook for it lol.
Thank you for the superforest link. Thank you for the words and thank you for the reminder :) have a blast ♥
One of my favorite verses in a song goes "Give us something familiar, something similar. To what we know already, that will keep us steady. Steady, steady. Steady going nowhere." (Fiona Apple)
If we do not embrace the changes necessary to move forward we will forever be stagnant, and how can we ever hug someone without moving toward them?
Chowing down some sweet potato fries over here. Thanks for sharing what's doin' in your world too!
the humanifesto is fantastic. compassion as ripple effect. beautiful.
in my environment (my front porch) right now...
*the wind is moving a long string of peace bells and hollow wooden windchimes
*tons of purple irises have bloomed out front
*the sky is slowly turning from pink to the deep blue just before darkness
*there is a cup of tea, a bottle of fair trade sarsparilla, and a little pot of thyme on the table
*in the background are the sounds of townes van zandt playing and my roommate sauteeing mushrooms
i feel funny listing the people i'm being kind to. hopefully it's everyone. but i'm also trying to be kind to myself. i'm a little heartbroken right now. for the second time in 2009 and we're only halfway through! yikes. i find that i get impatient with my own sorrow. i'm naturally optimistic, and so when i'm experiencing sadness or the process of letting go of love, i find that i want to feel better immediately, as opposed to experiencing the slow process of healing. so i'm trying to be compassionate with this heart of mine and let it mend itself in its own time. we'll see how it goes. any words of wisdom for this process? i have found that when i ask random people for thoughts on heartbreak, everyone has something inspiring to tell me. i'm so lucky to be surrounded by humans who are so willing to give their thoughts so warmly.
finally, the self-portraits are lovely. early morning or late evening? i like the tight macro focus. it narrows my gaze to the center of the photo, makes it kind of intimate.
"To be loved – to feel safe – to be inspired and inspiring during our stay here on Earth." I really loved that.
Hmm,
Again with the solar energy and Obama. You haven't commented on what "his greatness" is or isn't doing now that he is the Pres. You know, I was watching him give a speach the other day where once again he was saying magnificent things and yet there were distinctive markers in his behavior that propose that he himself does not believe that what he is saying will actually work. All smoke and mirrors catching the reflected sunlight shining off him into everyone's eyes.
California is sinking under the weight of it's ambitions.
We can't afford to put in solar power and we don't qualify for any stimulus package to help us do that......oh wait, I don't think there is one for that.
Lately my thoughts reflect a simple self depricating message. There is no purpose that has any major importance as we will all die one way or the other. I look around me at beauty and magnificent magnanamous wonder and think cars? cell phones? television? buildings? shoes? clothes? money? hate? existence? and I just don't get it. I have lost my understanding as to why we are here. At one time I was certain and unwaivering in my understanding and at peace. Now, I am plagued with a simple question, why? I have to invent a reason. We all do, because really, there is no purpose, only existence. We are just here, waiting to die.
Agape,
Millie
lets be kind to whoever we come across today!
lets practice gratitude! :)
takecare jason, hugs ^_^
Everyday I ask myself what I could do to make some difference, even if just for one person’s world. Well, being involved with architecture and urban planning I can think about sustainable buildings, social habitation, more public transportation and green areas, sharing ideas to create new and great solutions to improve some people’s life and provide a better place to all families live. But sometimes all these things seem so far from me… and I feel powerless… so I try small actions, actually, they are the best way to start… A smile is priceless... It’s amazing how a simple action can affect people… It's nice to have a space like this to share ideas and open our minds.
Good job! Like you said, people want to be inspired… your words are really inspiring.
This post is awesome. You're a thoughtful guy, that's why I love you, Jason.
Jason,
Why is the smile in your eyes missing?
Its been too long friend.
I've been working at a crazy pace for several months now and my daily work is always based on meeting big deadlines. Sometimes, after a big project, when it is all said and done I'm left feeling empty and wondering why does the result of all my effort appear so effortless. It causes this lonely disoriented feeling and I kind of go through this period of remembering who I am and what I was like before all the pressure. Maybe this is just the result of imbalance.
Anyways, I just wanted you to know that regardless of what has caused this demeanor, the smile in your eyes and the beautiful smile being eclipsed by a blank seriousness have been missed greatly.
In your quest to save the blue planet, and love, love, love, don't forget to protect the planet that is Jason. Everything that grows there has a purpose, be it a fruit or a weed. We love the whole kit and caboodle.
You look like you need the sincerest of hugs and if I were in reaching distance, I'd give you a real one. <8> Here's the best I have to offer.
EG2BA <3
my current thoughts, prayers and hopes are for the people of iran - they deserve just as much of a chance at change and hope as we got with obama. i hope they can take back their own election and change their future - they have courage most of us could only dream to have.
"Remember, to make room for that new Ferrari, you gotta clean out your garage first."
that is such a simple statement but yet completely perfect for my current situation and exactly what i needed to hear. thank you. =]
thanks, thanks, thanks, a million times, thanks :)
never stop being so you
love ya!

I love the frequent post J.. Keep doing that.. Keep inspire people..
How right you are. The gift of giving is one where both/all people prosper.
I just love when You are not on tour, we get so many wonderful, insightful blogs.
Thanks and keep them coming.
thanks for sending the love(rs) towards SuperForest, Thuggy-J. Don't know what we'd do without you as a partner in criminal joy.

Well-spoken Jason.
People, How can you sleep at a time like this? We have an amazing opportunity for change, creation and a new Earth, even Eckhart Tolle agrees, people of the world Awaken!
I attended a Sacred Activism conference here in Boise, Idaho (Way to go Boise!). One of the inspiring speakers was Andrew Harvey; he asked, “What breaks your heart, what is your heartbreak?” Is it poverty, bigotry, pollution or one of the millions of others? Support its healing, this is one way how we can transform negative energies toward positive expressions. It’s true we need darkness to recognize light, but there are other alternatives. As the Humanifesto says…”if we all started treating the people and things…(daily)…with respect and compassion, the effects would ripple through every aspect of our lives, transforming society.” What a wonderful way to offer love and hope to those who need it. Support healing your heartbreaks it can transform your life, our society, and our earth. It has transformed my life.
My heartbreak is animal compassion and our planet. I spend my money on products that go the extra distance toward compassion and respect. I believe a vegetarian diet is a great expression of this compassion and the health benefits are fantastic! As I was packing for my weekend at the Raw Union Festival in Oregon, I recognized my raw food snacks were great for the planet; I can safely share my food with critters without causing them harm from processed foods, extremely biodegradable! I continue to seek ways to become a better earth citizen and am never disappointed in the incredible benefits.
The SuperForest Humanifesto also encourages us to “Seek out ways to improve the lives of others. This can be as small as carrying someones bag up a flight of stairs, or holding a door open.” I love holding doors for people, even Men and especially for our elderly, a simple act that often brings smiles. ☺
From the pure place of my heart I share this and am grateful to know there are others of like mind around. Love, light and Joy people, embrace it now!
Namaste

Jason,
You are such an Inspiration. I am inspired every time I read your blogs. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and spreading the love. Much Love and Peace to you, Inspiration Jason! :)
p.s. After reading your prior blog (Deep sh*t) I have decided to stop buying the two-ply TP that they advertise on television with the big furry cartoon bear frolicking around in the forest. Thanks for educating us on this topic. I also just read an article in Time magazine about how using two-ply tp is like driving a hummer these days. We must save Mother Earth!
Considering the fact that I now think of you every time I tear off 8 squares of toilet tissue or less, this 'manners' thing shouldn't be difficult to accomplish. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to become a better person.
Namaste :)
Jason, this is the first time i read your blog. It's the first time i see pictures of you and i have been listening and admiring your music for quite a while. I am amazed of how inspirational you are and i am only proud to like an artist with your values.
Thanks a million :)
How can you sleep at a time like this?
Unless the dreamer is the real you
Listen to your voice
The one that tells you to taste past the tip of your tongue
Leap and the net will appear
Love your lyric Mr. A-Z :D
Thanks for getting us thinking all the time Jason, you're a really inspirational person and have honestly changed some of the things I do and how I live.
BTW you have the most fantastic nose, it's gorgeous :)
A change is a long process to endure. Especially to people who had lived a little longer here on earth. It takes a lot of time to sink in. I do believe in starting helping the world by helping yourself first. see things around you as far as your eyes could visualize, and thinking, what else is needed to take notice? then when you finished with yourself, take time to look at others. that is the most important thing I learned along this whole journey. I know, having a disease means asking to immediately heal you. But, I saw others and realize how much in need they are more than I am. to save the earth, you have to save your own self first! thanks for that reminder!
haha
the mraz world....
hav u tot about adding BALI in yer gratitude cafe tour list?
we all wanttt u ta perform here.
PUHLEASEE
hmm, inspiring.
i agree, we should all contribute to the world in what ever way we can :D
:D
My husband found your music a couple of years ago and we all fell in love. We have found ourselves (myself, my husband and our two daughters ~ Annika 4 and Lyra 8 months) many times dancing around the living room or driving in the car listening to your magic ~ filled with happiness. And now to read this gives us even more respect for you. Our family is also on a mission to make this world better for our children. We practice organic gardening, use cloth diapers and recycle everything we can get our hands on and support others who are doing the same.
A beautiful life to you!
~ Sunlight & Laughter ~
We often find ourselves wondering "What is my one little action going to do to change the world?" The truth is the universe is made of small things and life is made of small actions. As a celebrity, you are in the fortunate position to be able to directly affect larger portions of the universe, but thanks for reminding us that the little ripples we create can do the same. Blessing to you, and to the rest of the little pieces of the universe!
"The Environment is everything that disappears when you close your eyes."
What a scary, horrible thought.
Thanks for the link, J! Good luck with the solar project.
Love your photos. :)
How can you sleep at a time like this?
In case you can't sleep at night, maybe you can try blogging until your eyes are tired. I'm sure one of us would reply you in a few minutes. 'Cos we're all over the world! A hug from one is like a hug from all. Hope you feel a little loved and inspired by all the friends you've made here.
And have fun at Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards. Do tell us more about it here. And maybe you could inspire us to be like you! :)
great thoughts J.
When I want to get rid of something, i never throw it in the trash i frist think could someone else use it and then I donate to the appropriate place.
you and your beautiful, plentiful lyrics inspire me EVERYDAY.
But, but, but I love avocadoes. What did you do with the avocado trees? Kill them? :(
I just loved this text,
I surprende you more.
@The Jam Machine
It's interesting that you found this thought scary and horrible: "The Environment is everything that disappears when you close your eyes."
Do you think you could put the why of it into words?
I'm curious, and would truly appreciate it if you tried. If you explained why to yourself (and me, us), you might find it's not so scary at all, and wasn't meant to be, I don't think.
Peace
"Who are you being kind to today?"
I ask myself that question everynight before sleep.
everybody should, i guess ;)
salam...
Sorry NYC is giving you a gloomy wet day. The city’s been under an omnipresent gloom for the past 2 weeks...sigh.... When will the summer come around? Knowing you’re in the same city as me brings a smile to my face. Enjoy the shower of well-deserved praises for you today. xo, K

congratulations on the hal david award! hope you had fun at the ceremony - the pictures of you and rob thomas are adorable =] if you're not writing/performing a song together yet, you should be!
Dear Jason,
You will probably never read this but here goes...
I love your music. I found you through an interview you did here in the UK about 8 weeks ago and so have missed the opportunity to see you live. But I console myself with reading your fantastic blogs. Can you do me a favour? Share some thoughts on how to live high when you have children. I feel like I'm balancing plates most of the time...love, my children, the environment, living my dreams. It's so hard to keep all plates spinning AND let go of the things that don't really matter. Tricky.
Anyway, those are my thoughts. Yours are inspiring as always.
Keep well.
Emma (32 year old English/Theology student with 2 children under 5... and lovin it! Also has slight crush on Jason Mraz...but don't tell my husband!)
ugh.. I just started reading your blog yesterday. (or was that the other day?)
"Remember to make room for that new Ferrari, you gotta clean out the garage first." --> haha classic.
I love the way you write.. :)
I wish there were more people like you... down-to-earth type of fellow even though you're a world renowed songwriter :)
I hear you're a surfer :)) you should come visit our beaches here in the Philippines.. they're awesome
that's it for now ~_~'
God Bless.

Your blog rocks. This inspired me.
this is the first time i read your blog. hehe sorry. but next i will read your blog as often as i can because your blog was very inspired me. keep writing ya :D
you are inspiring :-)
Jason,
Will you be re-releasing Crazy man's juju part 9? It is no longer available through the link or anywhere else. Where can we listen to the "Divorce Song" Why is there nothing ever published to Jason Mraz official youtube and now that you've grown up a bit have you ever thought about trying again with Sheridan? (assuming she hasn't remarried).
Agape,
Millie
may I HUUUUUG you?**
In that "I can't take my arms off of you even if I tried" kind of way???
;))
have a nice day***
oh my goodness, that video was PRICELESS. How funny. Your muppet looks completely creepy and drug dealerish. haha. good song, though, it's probably going to be in my head for the rest of the day - not necc. a bad thing.
be good to yourself and others!
keepin it real,
kelley
I was listening to 'Winter Song (written by Sara Bareilles)' reading this post. That song seems to be well-matched with your post It's just my personal idea .. :)
I couldn't agree more. We should all do something kind at least once a day even if it's out of our comfort zone! Keep up the positive.
jason.
you are brilliant beyond compare.
your music constantly plays in my mind.
ily.
i can't stop listening to this tune.
really no reason to post this here...i mean, it has nothing to do with jason in the slightest, but i just thought i'd share more music with other music lovers! enjoy!
Hello, Mr. Mraz.
See, I think we are really trying to save ourselves, and maybe not the world per se. If we are able to be better, to feel better about ourselves, then the world is a better place.
But it is still us trying to fill a hole inside our hearts by trying to be all that we can be.
Still, I also believe in our inate and everlasting generosity.
Just ramblings...
Greetings from Portugal.

I agree.. change is not gonna come unless we did something to do for the impossible.. after all nothing is impossible as long as we have the passion and the goals to do it. Very inspiring thoughts! :-)
Those pics of yours are fab.So fab that i saved them to gawk at a later point of time. No, I am not creepy .LOL
So, yeah, I am glad you are practicing what you preach unlike people who yap and yap about the environment and then go eat steak and buy more than one car. And then they expect their fans to ride a bike.
So,congratulations on your solar panels.Good job.I am proud of ya!
This is one of the best blog posts you have written. Interesting thoughts and ideas.
Dear Jason
First a HUGE thanks for your wonderful and amazing concert in Copenhagen. Since I came across your tunes last year in the US ( and embarressed myself trying to sing it for a salesassistant in a cd store trying to buy your album but not knowing what it eas called) it have made every day a little better. I told my 7 year old daughter to put your album on if she thinks I'm getting angry 'cus instantly my mood rises above!!!!
Your lyrics are more than wonderful, you were a HUGE lightbeing beaming from the stage in Copenhagen and I pray I will be able to see you live again. It was huge and WOW is all I have to say!
THANKS Pernilla

Maybe we shouldn't stop trying to save the world. There's nothing quite so thrilling as each small victory in the eternal fight against entropy. I personally find it most rewarding to aim for the highest goals; as it stands, the current goal is to end involuntary poverty. There are already so many things coming together, and it's very humbling to watch the path to my goals materialise in front of me as I walk abreast with those whose different yet coincidental paths are beneath my feet as well.
So happy belated birthday--we share the same! I wish you peace and love in your small victories against entropy in creating a new world from one that's not worth saving.
Jason,
saw you on SNL NJ way back in March (I think) when you sang with Colby...OMG you just blew me away. It's not just your words, I am sounding loco now so I will just say, glad I found your sound, it moves me consistently and happily. I hope you always play music. and you are sexy as all get out!!
