howthesunrose : When are You-Jason your most authentic self???

Today in Yoga, Tricia led me thru a series of challenging balancing poses.

Tree to Dancing Tree. Half moon. Warrior Three with Airplane Arms. Reverse Half moon. Chaka Khan. Rinse and Repeat. I try my damndest to move through the flow without collapsing or dropping a leg, yet the pain in my ass sends thoughts to my brain with flashbacks of Susan Powter. Stop the Insanity! Muscles spaaazz and quiiiiver. Breathing becomes a moan and I throw it at my fearless leader, Love Flourishing Tricia who is balancing with ease, swimming in her own inner-bliss while still managing to lead my legs to oblivion. “Why is she doing this to me?” I question my skill level and whether or not she really knows me. What is her reasoning for choosing the poses, the order and the extended length? I begin to wonder if I really have time for class at all. My muscles gyrate more and more. The breath in my mouth is now visible frothy foam. For a few seconds I even hate Yoga. But therein this communication lie the yoga, the union with Self, and I realize I’m just resisting.

In the realizing of the resistance, I get it – and I finally let go, smiling into the pain. I know exactly why she’s doing this to me. It’s Because:
A) I’m in the class.
B) She knows I’m capable of strength
C) I can stop anytime I choose - on my own volition

In Reality, SHE isn’t doing anything to me other than speaking from a few mats away, reminding me that my breathing will get me by. I continue to let it all go and allow the pain to become the teacher.

This was a huge lesson for me. There have been times when my manager has made requests for more travel, more concerts, surprising collaborations, etc that require a lot of time and energy. I’ve been crazy to think, “Why is he doing this to me? Why is he adding this stuff ? Does he not know me? Does he not like me? Is he trying to kill me or keep me from having a life?”

Now I get it. He makes those requests because:
A) I’m in the class.
B) He knows I’m capable and strong
C) I can stop anytime I choose - on my own volition

I do it to myself.

So to answer your question, I’m my most authentic self when I remember that I’m in the class, grateful to be learning something, gaining strength and compassion for my ever tightening and slightly swollen gluteus. I am my most authentic self in this now moment.

2.
tommylittlefoot : how did the SPARC theater help you with stage presence?

The Wife of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, 1st Lady Anne Holton, recently said, “Not all kids are Jason Mraz.”

Is she saying your child’s talent probably won’t be cultivated and carried beyond into adulthood’s economic fulfillment? It makes me nervous to hear this kind of limiting and resigned dialog. I owe ALL of my stage presence and skills to the arts programs that the State of Virginia afforded me as a child. And furthermore, I owe my success to NEVER believing in statistical comments like, “Not all kids will grow up to do what they love for a living.”

I attended SPARC - The School of Performing Arts in the Richmond Community, a program that is very active in central Virginia, nurturing the fundamentals of performance art and people skills. I also participated in Chorus, Band, and Drama in the Hanover County Public School System, and attended a summer music program at the Governor’s School, funny enough. I would love to see the very same programs I benefited from flourish.

I vote for more/continued support for the arts from our State and Federal Governments. Schools have an opportunity to produce any kind of result they choose. They can essentially grow any kind of human they so desire. We should celebrate and encourage the expressive side of learning and living by having Art as a feature in the curriculum, not just as an exploratory.

I think humans are natural born creative artists. Every decision we make in life is a creative choice. All we do is Create! Yet it seems our system educates us away from our passions. Is it too bold to think that school may be killing creativity?

Check out this inspiring Ted-Talk by Sir Ken Robinson. I had the pleasure of chatting with this chap in Vancouver at last month’s World Peace Summit. In this talk he gives a wonderful 20 on this topic. You may want to share this with your family, teachers, school board, etc. And perhaps fwd it to the Governor’s Wife.

3.

diieannuhh : who do you think would win in a fight- a taco or a grilled cheese?

Gooey grill cheese got nothing on taco. Los Tacos son asombrosos.

4.
songgock: What significance does the number "12" have to you?

I never thought of this before today. But 12 does kind of play a recurring role in my life. I always elect to put 12 songs on a studio album. This is the 12th post of 12 questions game, which, incidentally was intended for post yesterday, October 12th. My Saturn is presently in the 12th house. I got braces put on when I was 12. And there are 12 letters in the name “Holmes The Cat.”

In numerology, you can add the two numbers together to create a single digit “birth number.” Here’s what it says about threes. Consider now that my albums are threes (because of the 12 song track listing).

Number Three – courtesy of CaféAstrology.com

Number Three is a sociable, friendly, and outgoing vibration. Kind, positive, and optimistic, Three's enjoy life and have a good sense of humor. Ruled by Jupiter.

Keywords: jovial, friendly, positive, adventurous, self-expressive. If expressed negatively: extravagant, scattered, superficial.

As lovers: Number Threes are fun, energetic, and willing to experiment. These lovers need space and contact with others in order to feel content. If they feel confined, they will be unhappy and restless. Allowed the freedom to socialize and scatter their energies, they are exciting and happy lovers.

5.

iheartjasonmraz: How many hats do you have now, have you added hats from fans to your collection?

In my personal collection I have only 5 or 6 varieties of the same hat from past touring seasons as well as a few flexfit lids from LifeRollsOn.Org.

And then there’s the hundred plus hats sent to me this past year from random clothing companies and many that were tossed onstage as gifts from generous audiences.

I’ve decided I’m going to autograph the excess hats and get them onto the cold heads of Chemo patients, young and old. My Rad Aunt Sharon is currently being treated for Lung Cancer and has inspired me to share my hats with those in need of snazzy headwear.

6.

vaqkiddo: what is your stand on legalizing marijuana?

Marijuana is already one of the largest cash crops in the United States – I would love to see Farmers thrive and not be jailed.

It would be beneficial for the whole to not spend millions each year incarcerating and rehabilitating growers and users. I think it would actually stimulate the economy to have another taxable good on the market, much like tobacco and alcohol are taxable.

Marijuana is an awesome herbal remedy for most ailments and should be taken very seriously. Its recreational purposes should not be abused and those committed should clear the space for it, just as you would if you were going to have a 5-hour massage or take LSD. In every case, I think it needs to have an intention for use; a time and place, for spiritual and healing purposes.

In my opinion, marijuana is NOT a gateway drug. Most people experience this euphoria through alcohol first.

One in 25 deaths around the world is caused by alcohol consumption, and booze is now as damaging to global health as tobacco was a decade ago, according to a new study in the British medical journal the Lancet. – June 29th, TIME.com

7.
rosequartz21 What are you grateful for today?

I woke up this morning and this was the first text on my phone: “Hey Dood. Thank you again. Your fans are the best. They are a good crowd to play to as an opener. You are a great and generous headliner. You rule. Can’t wait to play/write with you again.” – Brett Dennen.

THANK YOU BRETT DENNEN.

I am grateful for that acknowledgment. Brett is someone I look up to. His music, his being, his actions - all good – every bit of it true. It was my pleasure to share this past weekend with him and his righteous music as we welcomed almost 50,000 people over the course of 3 days. If you haven’t checked out Brett Dennen, do so now.

8.
paw00paw: if you could break a record which would it be?

Free diving. At most I can hold my breath for maybe a minute and that’s if I’m okay with panic’s underwater disco. The current record for holding one’s breath underwater is 11 minutes and 35 seconds. That’s nutty.

9.
brandibomb: what is your favorite thing about Oceanside?

This.

10.

zainybrain: What would you say is your greatest flaw?

This is a tricky question, because I don’t want to create for myself that something is wrong or out of whack. I love whole Me as I am. But there are many people I admire for their wit and comedy and quickness to make light of a situation. Sometimes I find that I am very “matter-of-fact.” This makes it difficult to act or pretend I am someone else, which would be fun from time to time. I guess my flaw is that sometimes I can be too self-aware.

11.

J. Thomas Mraz: What is all this?

I’m not attempting to change the world in one blog or with one song. I’m just trying to keep the conversation moving along. My voice is just a small contribution to the big ongoing conversation that helped man live past his 40s. It’s the same conversation that overcame apartheid and is the same conversation that is establishing equality for all. It’ll be this conversation that will eventually lead to marriage equality and the end of all wars. I trust it is this kind of open dialogue that will bring a few more people up in the world with love and happiness as something they use in life to the point that they can pass it along to their kids. This is age old vernacular and its all been said before by many a hippy and scholar alike. I’m just one man’s view of life. And I enjoy my freedom and realizations in the telling of it. This is the era of the seeker; those redesigning their lives for sustainability and those redefining the God Myth for the one love and fair treatment of all of Earth’s inhabitants. I think this is an important time to be alive and I am grateful to be in action. You reading this means you are in action too. Welcome to our renaissance.

12.

nadiette: Besides your music, what do wish to be remembered for?

I hope the Eulogy goes:

He lived poetically,
He loved romantically,
He laughed authentically,
And he cried unapologetically.

Bravo for your support of arts education! I attended the Governor's School in Radford, Va. during the summer of 1987 and had the good fortune of attending the Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk, Va. from 1986 to 1989. I was in the visual art programs, and I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if not for those experiences. Every state and community should have these programs.

Now I am taking what I have learned from all of my amazing teachers and will be teaching the multimedia journalists of tomorrow. I am doing what I love.

I so agree with your stance on musical education. When I was in high school, I was in orchestra from 8th to 12th grade and all funding went to sports which made it hard for us as students to get lessons and to get instrument repair. Luckily we were blessed with a teacher who ended up making it work, but I am a strong believer in music education. There's nothing like it. I also loved the 12 questions. Thanks for taking time to answer fan questions. So awesome!

Hey if I could get one of those hats for my dad's BFF who is going through Chemo for a brain tumor that would be so awsome!!!! He is a wonderful DR who is not being defined by his cancer...but as my dad said..."I am tired of seeing him in the same hat...he needs some new hats!" I can get you his address...that would be soooo fun! (let me know)

I loved #1 that was my favorite, thank you for helping put things into perspective once again.

Congrats on a wonderful tour and best of luck to you this Fall season!

I always love reading your answers. :) Beautiful picture of the ocean!! What a great idea about the hats...you're so caring and giving. Ya know, I would have caught the hat you threw out into the audience in SD if you would have aimed just a little bit more over to your right...but I'm sure the lucky recipient will treasure it.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for an incredible weekend. The shows were so fun and so wonderful!! "In My Life" was the cherry on the cake! You put your heart into it, and it showed...what a perfect ending. Thank you so much!! Pretty sure this smile is never leaving my face. :)

oooooh, I got a great shot of the hollywood bowl with the hollywood sign in the background. Someone told me I'd be able to see it, so I sprinted to the top for a picture! :) I do love to take pictures.

Thanks again for everything...you're the best!

I also had the opportunity to meet new friends when I volunteered with Alysee in Red Rocks...all of us uniting because of your music (and a little hooping)...thank you for that opportunity. 3) you should put those to lyrics:
He lived poetically,
He loved romantically,
He laughed authentically,
And he cried unapologetically.

defffffffffinatley.

4) i care about you. keep up your well being. continue to write, thrive and survive. don't hesitate to live and just keep doing what you're doing Jason.

now that i've commented on this and spoken to you on a level a guidance counselor might, and feel somewhat awkward about it...i close.

Sometimes i get the feeling like u're tired of answering the question.. Like u write blog just because u have to,, not because u want to.. U must have done lots of interviews, lots of answering questions, then u write blogs answering other questions..... Too many questions.... U must've been tired at some points... Well, I would....

Can't believe that after 12 weeks no one has asked you why you wear that teensy tiny underwear - I swear it can't be comfortable ...

All kidding aside, here's a thought on the musical education thing (vitally important, in my opinion). If anyone ever has tickets to an event (concert, ballet, folk fest etc etc etc) that they find themselves unable to attend, donate the tickets to children who wouldn't otherwise be able to attend - from your local school, after school care, children's crisis centre, favourite local kids charity ...

If they don't have a music program at their school or the opportunity to attend such events, it could be the inspiration a child needs to start living their dreams.

Hey, Mr. Mraz :)

I get what Mrs. Anne Holton so unfortunately blurted out, even though I don't agree with her.

We all have our talents, we are all Creation, I agree with you on that. The thing is that school guides you through your life and your talent, helping it grow.

It's not fair or correct to say that schools kill children's talents. Schools are places where youngsters can develop their art, their way of being and learn how to better blossom into this world, through sharing with their friends, with their peers and, most of all, by turning to the guidance of their teachers.

Believe me that, even without a proper arts programm, most schools and teachers are stimulating kids to find and never give up on their bliss.

Greetings.

PS - I do think that weed should be legal. It doesn't make sense for it not to be.

There is certainly nothing wrong with being bold... it has genius, power and magic in it.

You are 100% right. Schools don't seem to nurture children's innate sense to create. School systems main concern is with test scores... because they get their $$ from high scores, NOT high creativity. In kindergarten, kids have homework every night and certainly aren't making paper snowflakes anymore.

Maybe one day the tide will change...

Though I believe that many schools are killing the creativity of children, I also know from experience as a teacher and having an amazing mentor teacher, that a good teacher will find a way to incorporate creativity into their learning. The most successful teachers are the ones that use a variety of methods to engage the students. Kids (and adults) learn in a variety of different ways. If you don't address every way of learning (this includes using music, art, and physical activity), then many students will fall behind. I try as hard as I can to keep my lessons engaging, creative, and fun.

Dear Jason

1.

Read "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. She goes through the same thing, only in an ashram in India. Through hundreds of hours of painful yoga-sessions she meets this wonderful person. Herself.
Always keep I am that I am in mind.

2.

I studied at an Art High School for 4 years and I will always be grateful for everything I've learned there. I learned to be confident, to believe in everything I do, that even the sky is not the limit. To appreciate people in every form. Gratitude all the way. Thank you St.-Lucas Art High School for existing and giving young people such a wonderful opportunity.

3.

Tacopower!

4.

12 = Next year I will be turning 21 on 10.20.2010. Couldn't get more special than that.
Also: born on 10.20.1989 = 1+2+1+9+8+9 = 30 = 3.
Thank you.

5.

I'm going to do the same. I have way too many hats.

6.

I don't smoke marijuana. But right on on the not abusing it part. And the alcohol. Liquor can destroy more than just your health.

7.

Discovered Brett Dennen a few months ago while randomnly clicking on a blog entry from you dated October last year. In love with his music ever since.
THANK YOU BRETT DENNEN!

8.

Once saw this guy on TV breaking a record for sitting in a barrel of ice for God knows how long, but it was more than 11 minutes and 35 seconds. He stood through the proces while meditating. That was nutty. And wonderful.

9.

Saw this tattoo in the September issue of Inked Magazine: Be Like Water. Loved it.

10.

The Thinker, by Rodin. Both my flaw and my gift.

11.

You do keep the conversation moving along. As do you move a lot more than that.

12.

Perfect.

In the past couple of years I have been a devoted fan of yours, but I'd like to think of myself as more than that...I'd like to think of myself as a friend to you and to your fans who are in constant pursuit for ways to be love, who are always trying to be better versions of ourselves each day, and who want nothing but the best for you in all aspects of your life. B) They (God, Source, Guardian Angel, My Higher Self) know I’m capable and strong
C) I can stop anytime I choose - on my own volition.

In the deepest gratitude, that quite honestly words in a box can't quite express. One day I hope to meet you, look you in the eye and say...

Thank you for being an incredible inspiration (even though I'm sure you hear this everyday!)

...and thank you for leading me to Adrianas blog. She is such a beautiful soul as are many others here

Love love love

#9 - yesssss! Sunset? Sunset is my favorite time of day. The light shift makes everything sparkle for one last second before the cool darkness takes it over, wrapping it in jet toned velvet.

You are wittier than you give yourself credit for I'm sure. As an observer of all things I would wager that even if it doesn't come out of your mouth it races through your mind in perfect 3/4 time.

I've loved reading your 12Qs and am in no doubt you know everyone who reads it is already part of the renaissance. Just has to spread a little further than all of us already on the same page. We can all still learn or be reminded of somthing though: had you in mind when I fought against my urge to be lazy and buy plastic bottled drink last week so your words do work their way into our conscience.

Got a balance class tomorrow night and will think of you and Trish as my thighs burn with pain waiting to be told 'and come up'. The pain is forgotten quickly though and the feeling after the session overrides momentary discomfort. Namaste.

So your recent musings have left me with two things: a kick-ass folding hula hoop that j'adore, and your whiteboard affirmation that graces the screens of my mobile and ipod to remind what I choose to be. Awareness of volition is key.

Sending three little birds to pitch by your doorstep.

That eulogy is beautiful. I hope I receive something similar.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, and for always being so unapologetically honest. It's refreshing in a world where we're told lies to make us buy things that will never make us happy. You, genuinely, bring happiness to people around the world.

Though not everyone can be Jason Mraz, since there's only one you, I hope we can all find a piece of you inside of us.

In the most innocent (okay, maybe not so innocent) way possible.

Jason,
Thank you for a great show on Sunday! Did you hear my husband yell: "I love you Jason!" Oh, the looks we got! And what a jam gem was Spirit in the Sky! I loved the song you sang with Make Peace Brothers. Did you write it? Beautiful. Oh, and you are really good with that hula hoop. Thank you for this great opportunity to be close to the stage for a change and benefit charity at the same time. I'll be looking forward to your new album and seeing you in concert again. Make sure to come back to Merriweather soon. ~Victoria
P.S. I wish you could see my 3-year old in yoga class. She can do a mean Tree pose.

angelle, it's this one: caps for sale. and i thought the same thing.

"welcome to our renaissance." so lovely. and #9 gave me goosebumps.

bummer about sigg, eh? i was pretty surprised. also, i'm a virgo rising, but in the late degrees, so i'm going to have saturn in my first house forEVER. well, at least it feels like it. i'm trying to absorb its lessons, but i'm really falling off the patience wagon. :)

also, i've had alela diane's album, to be still on repeat for months now, and thought maybe you might like to take a listen. she's such a lovely singer-songwriter...lots of nature imagery, stories, and a lilty haunting kind of sound. anyway, just thought you might dig it. i love this vid too... mostly because "heart of gold" is one of my all-times.

There is no one, compares with you,
And these memories lose their meaning,

For people and things that went before,
I know I'll often stop and think about them,
In my life, I love you more ... "

Dear Jason. I'm sure I speak for nearly all of your fans when I say you're a huge inspiration. I love your advice, and hearing your thoughts and opinions. Most of all I love your view on life. I'm all about loving your neighbor, and you basically spread my mindset across the world to people I would never reach, so I thank you for that, and your clever, and innovative songs/lyrics, and of course, for just being so freaking awesome. Love always, another one of your fans.

I hate to say you are very modest, which is why I'm such a fan. Albeit you grew up in a public school system that gave you the opportunity to explore music and your creativity, you are gifted, and you success is because of that talent!!

Keep on rolling as you are. One day you will begin another self-realization in life when you are swept off your feet, head over heels in love, marry, start a family, and feel the unconditional love from your child and wife. The commitment to a family finds one in a position of defining priorities and making sacrafices to fulfill the needs of the family. Can't wait to hear your songs when that point in your life culminates. You have the gift of music and lyrics. Love your poetry!!

God bless always!!

p.s.-- loved ur show Sunday! Especially the Beatles 'There Are Places I remember' serenade. The gospel singers were awesome also... The oldies but goodies were awesome also. Thank you!!

I just poured away the last coke I ever ordered (this, at least, is the plan). I felt kinda sorry for making it go down the drain (who knows what damage it might do there?) but at least it won't kill me inside. I've been drinking water and coffee for the past week and I still feel fine. Guess I don't need all the soda crap I used to love. Maybe being in hospital isn't that bad after all. Maybe I just needed this to find Me again.

Loved reading your answers, you have a great view on life. And I adore the pictures you add. I stopped taking yoga classes when my teacher kinda freaked me out. He wanted me to be his student (or whatever is the equivalent yoga word for 'Padawan') and he wanted me to go to the official yoga school so I could be the youngest person ever to get accepted and he'd take all the credit for it... Yeah well, to me that was the end of yoga.

Don't know if I agree on the marijuana subject, I just never got in touch with it. I would never use it. And the thing is... The ones who want to use it will use it, even if it is illegal. So maybe it's better for all if it's legalised. I'm not sure.

Beautiful final answer, btw. It sounded familiar, but that might just be my funky head speaking.

Thanx again for your amazing words and music. You shook my world. I need a litle more work on my own life and then I think I'm ready to shake my friends' world up. Let's show this world the beauty it could be!

You connect people, Mr.A-Z. Everytime I hear "I'm yours" on the radio, I text my best friend and she does the same thing. She missed your show at Rock Werchter (Belgium) in July, but she was still present through me. One day you'll unite the world in Beauty & Gratitude.

Some music, some hugs, some besos will make them happy.

My mother raised 25 children per year for 25 years. She run a Child house in San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina.
There I grew up. I’m an only child with almost 625 sisters!!
I lost record from almost all of them. I Know that Silvia who was adopted is the best friend of one of my best friends!, Antonia is living in Chile, all the adopted girls are happy with their own families. The group of sisters leading by Adela is a close happily family with a lot of kids. We lost Deolinda in prostitution because she stayed at a Teenagers House till she escaped. She was preciosa, I always remember her case, and it hurts me she is my age.

I’m redefining my mission in life since I left that place 20 years ago, when I was 18. I’ve been working on marketing for 10 years. Now I’m thinking to do something more meaningful for me, my son and society at large. I started writing about peaceful thoughts and I’m looking for a job where I can mix my experience with social care.
My mother is like a little mother Teresa, She did everything she could. Now is my turn.

We can change the world with a little contribution:
"Empieza por hacer lo posible, luego sigue concretando las metas propuestas y de pronto te encontrarás haciendo lo imposible"
Which means something like that: “Start doing the possible, then follow the goals and soon you will find you are doing the impossible”

In high school my son had to choose between art & music. I was so angry with that. Thanks ‘Buddha's sake’* my son is more interesting in sports and we do everything to support him.
*(Mine sake)
School was boring for me, I understand him, and he’s boring more than me.
I went to an Art School It was interesting and made me explode creativity in singular ways. Thanks my mom's sake!

If we analyze society there are so many things to change! Let’s start with us!
Thanks for your open conversation, your little contribution change OUR world.

marijuana: no. for med reasons sure but overall it would have to be with ristrictions i guess. all though i believe drugs r for the weak mind. i would not hold it against u if u smoked it. just away from me it makes me gag..lol.. research shows it makes the brain not work to its full
potential. why promote something that makes people dumd? why is it even focused on? instead of putting all of the energies into getting it legalized, why do we not put that same energy x 100 into improving our schoolsfor example? for the children to be able to enrich their minds and try programs that will help them achieve whatever goal they want. i drink sometimes. n not always over the top.

im still gonna marry u cause u my ragamuffin r my destiny..its a good conversation. :)

equal mrrge rights: this from a 35yr old straight single woman, i dont know either im a catch. :)..well, now a days u can co-own things. u can also have a lawyer write up a legal paper giving rights to whatever u want to your partner, i mean u can have a prenup why not that? if u just want to get married well go somewhere where its allowedn live there or do it n go back home. make it happen. if u wait for "others" to approve on anything in your life nothing is gonna happen. men usually give me the i so popular " i like u as a friend" ..among other things...lol

1 President Jason Thomas Mraz

Definitely entices the senses……no doubt a phenomenal historical figure would he BE……a maverick in an industry of Machiavellians…
and yet, KNOWing the deception inherent within this centuries old HIERARCHICAL system one is left to PONDER….perhaps a COMPLETE overall…perhaps, dare I say, a system of WHOLEarchy❤☺❤

2 Farm Aid

An amazing event organized by amazing individuals {my son was danc’n to neil in utero!!} providing enormous assistance and support to those whom provide life’s nourishment and sustenance.

An event supporting ALL farmers; animal, vegetable and mineral though let’s face it, more animal~ n’est ce pas? Kinda stimulates one’s mind to ponder, who is supporting and looking out for the animals? It’s not as though they volunteered for the positions afterall…..

http://www.wfad.org/about/treatment.htm

3 Education System

Our educational systems and their curriculum exist to prepare us to be response-able, contributing adults within our world system. The question is, what system are they designed to reinforce? A system based upon centuries of conditioning, reinforcing illusory self policing oppression, perhaps???

What if……instead of pre-packaged, cookie cutter curriculum, we created an educational system of exploration and opportunity, a curriculum focusing on mastering our natural, innate, intrinsic talents, talents WE ALL share/have, but have forgotten~ having been lead astray……talents such as keeping the channels of communication

WITHIN SELF Open, that we may follow the TRUTH of that which we are HERE to fulfill, the Unique Gift of LOVE’s Light we each came to share with and for the BEnefit of ALL? Imagine, teaching our children to LOVE SELF, BE HAPPY & enJOY life…WOW……What a wonderFull World I DO see!!!

to PONDER as we adventure
our journey ❤☺❤

4. Environment, Mother Earth, Gaia, Mana, HOME

Jason has incorporated “Wet Wednesdays or Thirsty Thursdays” in honour of our one shared, our one true, HOME……….

whether we believe in global warming, pollution, over flowing waste, lack of resources, or misuse thereof, what DOes hurt if we are respectfull to and loving towards our planet, our earth, the first mother whom made any mother possible to be, in the first place?

what does it hurt to be a little more attentive, a little more caring, sharing, giving, and loving? There may be disagreement on the “issues” however……everyone can agree, we all share this planet, this planet, our home, is our only home, there is no where else to pack up and move to…….so again, i ask, what does it hurt to LOVE?

5. Senior Citizens and Time

The 20 years old looks at 40 as soooo very far away,

The 40 years old looks at 20, as just yesterday

The 60 years old knows 80 is not too far to go…..

We are ALL Children of the Earth School, each and every one of we, members of our ONE Universal Family, quintessential INFINITE Energy.

There is no “old”, there is no “time”, we are INFINITE BEings engaging within a miniscule, microcosmic experience of our BEingness.

6. “Inauthenticity is the backward slope on the righteous road of progress.” JTM

K, FIRST, LOVE this quote! Thank YOU Sir Mraz ;)

“inauthenticity” – NOT BEing TRUE….

DO we even KNOW, are we brave enough to face the conditioned fears of our societal upbringing to see, the BEauty, Miraculous, WonderFull, Unique, Gift that is reflected for the BEnefit of ALL, within EACH of WE?

YES, YOU!

YOU ARE a Divine Earth Angel, YOU are a Unique Gift to/for ALL of WE! There is NO OTHER that is Exactly, Just like YOU, that can think about, feel about and take action in exactly the way YOU DO….YOU ARE Special!

7. ”I AM”

I am at once, every thing, and nothing, no thing, every one, no one, all, one, none, here, there, everywhere, flesh, human, infinite, energy, malleable, flowing, expanding, transcending, enLIGHTening, experiencing, learning, growing, sharing, enJOYing, amusing, entertaining, YOU!

1st of all, thank YOU for putting together this amazing, inspiring and love filled tour. This past weekend, shined bright even more so in my thinking - perhaps we all appreciated it more knowing it was coming to an end? Many excellent things came together to make this happen - the super band, the super crew, the super opening acts, friends, family and all the love flowing from the super fans. And the audience in those huge sold out arenas spoke for themselves thru their enthusiastic participation. I think I have as many pics of the audience as I do of you guys on the stage :)
About pain in the butt, I for one am extremely thankful for the occasional pain in my butt. It tells me I'm fortunate to be alive, and that my butt is not just for sitting on and forgetting that it even exists :P So I've been thanking my pain in the butt lately. You can't even imagine *how* grateful I am to it.
I also truly appreciate your understanding on all matters and things numerological. Being a 3 may feel like a curse at times to some, so this was good reading :)
On children and potential, an apt verse from Khalil Gibran "The Prophet, On Children" comes to mind:
"You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth"
You can see the full text (worth reading if you haven't already) at link below..
http://leb.net/~mira/works/prophet/prophet.html

About schools. I could write an essay (I'll try not to!) While schools today could do much better not only in terms of art curriculums and approaches in general, I personally feel there is a lot we don't even touch upon in schools which can and should be taught. But despite all that needs to be done, I also believe that the one extremely valuable thing schools bring about today is that they bring together kids who would otherwise never know or hang out with each other. It is that forced proximity which brings about beautiful change. You spoke of Apartheid. In US in spite of racial equality laws it took school desegregation to bring about real change. Through out history we find, good intentions and laws may be foundational but the thing that really brings about the change is the actual doing side by side, the common experiences, sharing the space and learning to get along every single day thru each experience. If we do choose to get rid of schools altogether, IMHO the replacement should still be open and willing to entertain ALL schools of thought and people, regardless of their political/religious beliefs as well as race/sexual orientation/socioeconomic standing etc. It is so beautiful to watch the cross pollination that happens when two people who feel completely alien to one another, not only learn to get along but learn from and value each other. And when this occurs in early childhood, one is not even aware of any one being different. Like growing up in Bombay with no realization of which of your classmates are Hindus and which are Muslims, despite the long history of strife between the extremists in the two religions. So, I say bring it all! And bring them all! The artists and the scientists and the businessmen and women, the democrats and the republicans and everyone in between. We are all in this together :) And we shall all feel the burn in our butts and we will ALL learn from it. (sorry couldn't resist tying it all back together :P LOL )
Love & Gratitude always,
Gigi

JASON, HATS OFF TO YOU for your decision to donate your extra hats to people being treated for cancer. What a wonderful idea! I love your giving nature, and that very "Dr. Seuss-ish" picture of you donned in all your head garb glory!

As far as marijuana goes, I don’t have all of the facts or information from the research done on it. One would think that since people who are going to buy, sell, and use it will do that regardless of if it’s legal, that it might as well be made legal and taxable. But there are some places in California where it HAS been made legal and they seem to have more problems with crime and violence connected with the marijuana biz. I am not a user myself (don’t like anything that messes with the chemistry in my brain), but I certainly think it should be taken seriously as a medical treatment and made available for those with a medical need. Why not make it into a pharmaceutical and have it distributed through pharmacies with a doctor’s prescription)? I don’t believe it is a good idea for people to use it for "recreational" purposes, but people are going to do what they want anyway and who am I to judge?

Great eulogy but I hope you won’t be using it for a long, long, long time! I will miss these "question and answer" blogs for sure, but I know you have a personal life to get back to. Wishing you much love, happiness and joy. May you continue to be an inspiration to us all. Kisses and hugs!

You are amazing and inspiring, and I am forever grateful for you!

Thank you for answering my question. I'm gonna write down your eulogy somewhere. It's really beautiful.

Have a nice day and don't forget to smile.

i love it and will miss it.

Could you imagine how much brain damage is caused by holding your breath under water for that long?

I totally agree with sillygilly! The Jason Mraz experience is completely mind blowing, every piece of it. Come back to all of our towns soon :)

How's this for a eulogy:

Mraz's macabre morbidity miffed many, mainly Mora.

Merde, Mraz. Mediate. Maybe morose mental mayhem may migrate miraculously.

I want you to know I am grateful that by being love and sharing love you grow love in so many asking nothing in return- you are beautiful to me.
There are amazing and wonderful people on here and I have so enjoyed reading and feeling the love given. I will also be forever grateful for the Universe conspiring that I should meet Adri and Kim and that my life would be so much richer just knowing them.
I also want you to know that I have shared the G-rated segments with my son and have relished his laughter and the knowing that he grows from the love too. Lemon crusted booger jerkey is now on his list of all time funniest foods.
When my Aunt Win got cancer we got her the most snazzy hats and scarves we could find and even better, both sides of my family got involved in Locks for Love. Please keep in mind how worthy a cause that is and for all you lady readers, it grows back for those of us with the gift of health so why not?
Thank you really seems small compared to what I feel so please know my heart is full as are my eyes trying to express how grateful I truly am. In return I WILL be love and when I am blessed enough to be able to help someone and feel their love I will think of you and hope you feel the warm love inside every time I send it back to you.

With love and peace,

Leah

Thanks to you and the very educational video you made with the puppet dog (I don't remember the name of the program; I don't have TV), when I'm listening to a song I think, "there's the bridge!"

I have to figure out how I'm going to watch "Sesame Street" when the time comes. I'm bound to learn something.

By the way, the other day I was thinking that I especially like the bridge in Betty Soo's song "Never Knew No Love." The whole song kicks.

Please forgive this long comment, but I've been having some fun with numbers, thanks to this blog title.

If you sum/reduce the digits in each part of your blog title equation before you multiply, you still get the same answer: 9.

For example,
For 12: 1 + 2 = 3...so...
"12 x 12 = 144 = 9" becomes:
3 x 3 = 9 ...Ta Da!

The astounding thing (to me), is that this is true for any of the numbers that I've tried (as long as you also sum/reduce the answer). For some random examples:

25 x 43 = 1,075 = 13 = 4
...Now sum/reduce each part:
2 + 5 = 7, and 4 + 3 = 7, so:
7 x 7 = 49 = 13 = 4

Here's another one:
56 x 72 = 4,032 = 9
5 + 6 = 11, and 7 + 2 = 9, so:
11 x 9 = 99 = 18 = 9
(alternatively, 2 x 9 = 18 = 9)

Does everyone know this? Maybe it's just something I've forgotten over the years. It must be a known math principle, but I just discovered (or maybe re-discovered) it for myself. Cool.

Since I am apparently a 7 (by name), I guess I may think too much about these things, but since I am also apparently a 3 (by birth date), I hope you have a really nice day anyway! :)

you touch a lot of people not only with your songs but also with this blog.

i can't even put to words how much i admire the way you write.

and your eulogy...

He lived poetically,
He loved romantically,
He laughed authentically,
And he cried unapologetically.

seems not enough to describe how great a person you are.

thanks for being you! :)

Jason,

You say you do not plan on changing the world with one song or with one blog. But that's the thing. YOU ARE. And if not the entire world, then my world. And that's pretty darn big.

Thank you for adding brightness and sense into my day full of stresses.

Love you oh-so much,

I'm just gonna leave a comment and hope that by some miracle you decide to read all of the comments instead of only the first ones. So here goes;
Thank you so much for making such incredible music, refreshing my ears from all the crap they play on the local radio stations, being an avocado farmer, inspiring me to play the ukulele, and thanks so much for acting like you're just another human. Most musicians as popular as yourself flaunt it all and act like they own the world and they're too good for anyone. But you're not like that. You answer questions people ask, you talk to fans, you are your own person. You don't just blow off the world like it's not worth your time. You protect it. You also taught me to love before I hate, and you have reinforced my belief that the world isn't made up of complete morons. You're such a cool person, Jason, you're my hero, and you're my idol. You have changed my life (for the better).
